Job Description
The Northwestern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PERPAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is Seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community).
JOB PURPOSE:
To coordinate community mobilization through community outreach programs and supervise the Community Health Workers in order to improve awareness and uptake of HIV prevention and treatment activities
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Community Partnership: Coordinates Actions Groups and Community Based Organizations in order to create a strong and harmonious linkage between the community and health facility structures in order to promote integrated implementation of health programs
• HIV Testing Services: Undertakes and supervision the provision of HIV Testing Services to clients at Community Level according to National HIV Consolidated Guidelines in order to contribute to HIV epidemic control.
• HIV Treatment (ART): Undertakes and Supervises Community Health Workers to promote retention in care in order to maintain continuum of HIV prevention and treatment services.
• Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention: Supervises and undertakes community activities for TB contact tracing, defaulter tracing and active case finding to halt and eliminate TB in the community Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision
• (VMMC): Undertakes and supervises community activities with VMMC Foot Soldiers that create awareness and increase demand for VMMC services and link clients to appropriate care in order to reduce the incidence of HIV Cervical Cancer.
• Undertakes and supervise community activities to create awareness and demand for cervical cancer screening services in women to prevent cervical cancer in HIV positive women.
• Prevention: Undertakes effectively the provision of primary and secondary prevention programmes in order to control new infections and avoid recurrence of infections Supervision Supervises effectively human and other resources in order to attain the set targets Quality Improvement and Assurance Manages effectively performance
assessment and quality assurance/improvement for public health in order to ensure adherence to set standards and improve service delivery.
• Budget: Undertakes timely, preparations of budgets for the community in order to facilitate the acquisition of financial and material resources.
• Capacity Building: Conducts mentorship and onsite trainings for Community Health Volunteers in order to improve awareness, uptake and treatment outcomes.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitors the performance of all Community HIV Program targets in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES SECONDARY EDUCATION:
• Full Grade 12 School certificate with at least 5 O level credits or better
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling
MINIMUM PRE-JOB WORK EXPERIENCE
• 3 years’ relevant work experience
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
(i) Written Skills
• Ability to write comprehensive and analytical reports
(ii) Oral Skills
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Ability to speak and understand Local language, a must
