Job Description
The Northwestern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PERPAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is Seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community).
JOB PURPOSE : To supervise and provide technical guidance and coordination of laboratory services in the district
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates effectively, the provision of quality Laboratory Services to facilitate diagnosis and disease monitoring.
• Coordinates and undertakes effectively, the development and implementation of capacity building interventions to impart appropriate skills and knowledge
• Undertakes effectively monitoring and evaluation of laboratory services to develop appropriate interventions.
• Coordinates effectively, laboratory quality assurance/quality improvement programs to ensure adherence to laboratory guidelines.
• Coordinates effectively, laboratory safety programs to ensure safety of staff and environment at large.
• Coordinates and undertakes effectively, laboratory logistics management to ensure availability of laboratory reagents and supplies.
• Coordinates effectively, laboratory sample courier system to improve Turn-Around Time (TAT).
• Coordinates timely regular updating of Laboratory databases to facilitate storage and accessibility of information.
• Coordinates and undertakes timely preparation of laboratory reports to facilitate decision- making.
• Coordinates and facilitates Proficiency Testing (PT) of all facilities in the districts.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
(a) Primary/Secondary Education:
Full Form 5/Grade 12 school certificate or equivalent
(a) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications:
Degree in Biomedical Sciences
(b) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
3 years
Previous experience in offering laboratory services in a health facility
(d) Communication Skills:
(i) Written Skills
Ability to write comprehensive and analytical reports
(ii) Oral Skills
Fluent in English
(iii) Other skills/Attributes:
Good counselling skills
Computer literate
Analytical skills
Integrity
Good interpersonal relationship
Confidentiality
No criminal record
