Job Description
The Northwestern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PERPAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is Seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community).
JOB PURPOSE :
To be a front-line health worker tasked with responsibility of providing PMTCT/EID and other prevention services to clients in order to contribute to elimination of Vertical transmission of HIV and elimination of Hepatitis B virus and Syphilis infections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Undertakes HIV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis testing and counselling for pregnant women, their partners and HEIs
• Undertakes HIV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis testing and counselling for pregnant women, their partners and HEIs according to national guidelines.
• Implement re-testing policy in ANC, L&D and postnatal clinics
• Undertakes timely age-appropriate tests for exposed infants
• Provides IPT according to national guidelines
• Undertakes timely linkage to ART and other support services for newly identified positive children
• Manages HIV infected pregnant and Mother Baby pairs (P/MBP) clients according to the national guidelines at facility level.
• Provides PrEP in negative Pregnant and Breastfeeding women and their negative partners at risk following risk screening and offered without coercion.
• Establishes a working system (using appointment register) to track clients who miss ANC, PNC, clinical/lab appointments and pharmacy refills, and ensure documentation of clients brought back to care and ART.
• Undertakes routine and targeted monitoring for treatment failure through regular assessment of VL and/CD4 count as per national guidelines, and results documented in medical records;
• Undertakes Management of all HVL PBFW.
• Collects facility data, analyzes it, uses findings to inform activities, and submits monthly reports on progress made towards set targets.
• Conducts and documents client level awareness in PMTCT services and other Prevention services (CaCx, PrEp).
• Identify, implement and documents QI/QA activities in order to improve quality of PMTCT/EID service
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Secondary Education:
Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 O Level Credits or better
Professional Qualifications:
Diploma in Nursing/ Midwifery
Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia with valid practicing license.
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
3 years relevant experience
Communication Skills:
(i) Written Skills
Ability to write technical papers and reports clearly in English
(ii) Oral Skills:
Ability to communicate fluently in English and local languages
(iii) Other skills/Attributes:
Computer literate
Interpersonal relations
